Victoria and Oli were married at The Old Rectory, a beautiful boutique bed & breakfast in the heart of Hastings. I shoot regularly at The Old Rectory and when I walked into what I call their ‘secret garden’ I could see how they had really put their touch on the decorations. Beautiful clear acrylic chairs, a floral arch by La Collina Gardens and with the help of Lulabelle Wedding and Prop hire and Hire Love UK the gardens and courtyard were transformed into a modern clean, warm backdrop that complimented the venue and the couple perfectly.
Victoria studied fashion at University and so there were no surprises that she chose Pronovias for her wedding gown and Valentino for her wedding shoes. There’s an array of gorgeous navy in fashion for Grooms-wear lately so it was refreshing to see Oli and his Groomsmen wear a lighter coloured suit from Moss Bross.
When the sun was setting, Andrew from Tregoning Wedding Films, Victoria, Oli and I took the short walk down through All Saints Street to the fishing huts for their portraits. The fishing huts here in Hastings are my absolute favourite backdrops. The deep blacks absorb the light in a special way. I like to think it’s the history of this old fishing town that creates a little bit of magic for anyone who shoots there.
This gorgeous wedding has been picked up by Rock My Wedding and will be featured in 2019 on their blog. It was a pleasure shooting not only this super stylish couple but working with such a humble and modest people. Victoria and Oli are now working on fixing up their first home together and are documenting it via their instagram page “a step on the ladder”. That’s a pretty awesome next step isn’t it. I wish them all the luck in the world.
